About

Bridging analytical rigor and human insight

I combine PhD-level scientific training with curiosity about how people's experiences shape their understanding. The result is research that is grounded in evidence and informed by relevant perspectives.

Portrait of Kathryn Brink

My cross-sector experience enables me to adapt quickly to new fields, understand different points of view, and communicate findings to diverse audiences.

During my scientific and engineering training at MIT and Rice University, I learned to approach challenging problems with rigor and creativity. At Stanford, I applied these principles beyond the lab, using interviews, case studies, and large-scale data analysis to examine the governance of emerging biotechnologies.

At BioMADE, a public-private partnership, I connected research to implementation, with the goal of strengthening U.S. biomanufacturing. As Associate Director, I worked with partners spanning industry, academia, and government, including Congressional offices and the Department of Defense.

Today, I draw on these experiences to engage deeply with complex questions, listen attentively to stakeholders, and synthesize what I learn into clear, well-supported recommendations. I apply this approach across fields, with particular experience in biosecurity and biomanufacturing.
